The Myler Stainless Steel 7" Flat Shank Bit with MB 36 Mullen Forward Tilt Low Ported Barrel is a Level 2-3 Western bit designed to provide moderate leverage, tongue relief, and refined communication.
The MB 36 is Myler’s alternative to a traditional mullen mouthpiece, featuring a wide low port that allows the horse’s tongue to pass under the bit more comfortably. The 1" port is tilted forward at a 45º angle, giving the tongue enough room to elevate slightly and swallow while remaining low enough to apply little to no palate pressure.
When the reins are engaged, the MB 36 works primarily off the bars and lips, while the forward tilt also applies some tongue pressure. This makes it a good option for horses that need a step up in tongue relief from Level 2, while still maintaining clear communication.
The Sweet Iron mouthpiece naturally oxidizes to encourage salivation and acceptance. Its curved design helps prevent pinching of the lips and bars, while the copper inlay promotes responsiveness.
The 7" stainless steel flat shank is slightly curved back toward the horse and features a flat-top purchase with a rein ring. The patented Independent Swivel Cheek allows the purchase, mouthpiece, and shank to move independently for improved comfort and communication. Designed for indirect curb rein action, this bit should be used with a curb strap attached to the purchase.
